Summer Camp with Aftercare
With summer stretching out before us all, parents are wondering what to do for their children once school is out. For the schools of Los Angeles Unified School District, that falls on June 7th. You might need a program that can take both boys and girls. A program that caters to kindergarteners and middle schoolers alike. A program that offers early morning and aftercare to accommodate your work schedule.
You’re in luck, because Los Angeles School of Gymnastics is on hand to help. Our award-winning summer camp program offers a wide variety of fun activities for kids of all ages. It’s considered a leading summer day camp in Los Angeles for its range of options to keep your children active through the summer months. Your kids will gain the benefit of California’s largest gymnastics facility. With three 3,000ft spring tumbling floors, full-size trampolines, multiple beam bar stations, spotting belts, and a foam-filled pit, you can be confident your kids won’t only be kept off their devices. They’ll have ample opportunities to burn off that summer vacation energy in new and exciting ways. Have no fear, though. Your children will be supervised by Los Angeles School of Gymnastics’ team of highly experienced and qualified coaches.
“Nowadays children find enjoyment through tablets, cell phones, and video games. Here at LASG, we will redirect their enjoyment towards foam-filled pits and trampolines. Whether your child is interested in gymnastics for fun, recreation or has high ambitions in the sport, we provide an educational, healthy, safe and professional environment for them.”
–Tanya Berenson, General Manager, Los Angeles School of Gymnastics
Extended Day Summer Camp
Unlike other sports camps or discovery camps, we have a simple policy to ensure that children attending our camps remain active. Los Angeles School of Gymnastics Summer Camp operates as a no-device zone. Items of this kind will be held until the end of camp. The morning camp sessions are from 9am to noon, with lunch between 12 and 1. For a small surcharge, we can provide a hot lunch and drink for your child. We also offer an early care service if you want to drop your child off at 8am. If you are only seeking a morning camp summer program, you can collect your child at lunchtime. The extended day program lasts until 3pm, when camp activities end. We then run a late care service from 3 until 6pm. Children must be collected by 6pm promptly.
Mornings are generally focused on gymnastics exercises. Afternoons vary depending on the day. From the second week of camp onwards, Wednesdays are always a field trip to the local swimming center. This is a compulsory trip: if your child cannot or does not want to swim, you will need to collect them from the school at noon. The ratio of students to teachers is 3:1, not including the supervision of LA County lifeguards. Los Angeles School of Gymnastics has a 35-year partnership with the swimming center, and is confident in their ability to provide a fun and safe environment for our campers.
On other days, activities vary. Dance, games, physical education, arts and crafts, even rhythmic gymnastics. This year, we will be featuring hip-hop with world-renowned dance instructors from UCLA, as well as yoga and rock-climbing. Past summer and spring camps have also included ziplining, slacklining, martial arts, and more.
Summer Camp Los Angeles
The camp welcomes boys and girls, toddlers and teens, whether they are existing members of the school or not. We even accept visiting students who are seeking an opportunity to practice their gymnastics skills at their level.
Our Kiddy Camp option is for children between the ages of 30 months and 4 years old. This camp is administered by educational specialists who can ensure that your toddler enjoys a stimulating and safe camp experience focused on their physical development. Our regular camp experience is split into four age groups to ensure that campers have a better chance of keeping up with their peers physically. These groups are 5-7 years old, 8-10 years old, 11-13 years old, and a group for those above 8th grade.
A Gymnastics Camp for Everyone
There is no skill requirement for this summer camp. While some physical education school programs cover gymnastics, this is not universal protocol. We firmly believe that gymnastics is the best athletic activity for young people to participate in. That’s why this non-profit was started: to provide more opportunities for the families of Los Angeles to experience and practice gymnastics. We welcome newcomers who are interested in taking up a new hobby, whether they’re 3 or 13. All your child needs to take part is shorts and a t-shirt, and either money for a hot lunch, or a sack lunch from home. If they are attending the Wednesday field trips to the swim center, we also require that they wear an official Los Angeles School of Gymnastics t-shirt.
The main goal of this summer camp is to give kids of all ages a chance to experience gymnastics, enjoy themselves, and be active. It could be that your child’s experiences with gymnastics at our camp ignite a lifelong passion for the sport. An interest that will build their confidence, help them make new friends, and of course, improve their physical fitness and coordination. How proud would you feel to see your son or daughter tumbling, flipping, and rolling through the air after a couple of weeks of camp? Don’t take it from us– have a look at the parent testimonials on our website. Parents rave about the benefits gymnastics and our school in particular have for their children: from teaching perseverance and work ethic to helping them become more confident and outgoing. A child who enjoys certain aspects of our summer program might be interested in specializing in that form. We offer year-round classes in disciplines such as all star cheer, parkour, tumbling, and more. We even offer private classes.
