Coaches Stepon Odajyan, Manvel Grigoryan and Darryl Thompson join the boys for a photo after a successful weekend.

Led by coach Stepon Odajyan, the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics Level 4 Boys team had an excellent showing at the 2015 SCMGA Team State Championships this weekend.

The boys came in fourth place, besting over 15 other teams from around the state and coming just short of earning a banner for the gym.

Everyone at LASG is extremely proud of the team for putting forth such a good effort and representing our gym this weekend!

LAGymnastics.com was able to catch up with Martin Pentchev Monday afternoon to talk about his experience with the team and how it felt to take fourth place. Read below for the exclusive interview!

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics: Great to speak with you, Martin! Congrats on the trophy win. What events did you and your teammates compete in at the State Championships this weekend?

Martin Pentchev: We competed in floor, high bar, rings, pommel horse, vault and p-bars.

LASG: What was your favorite event to compete in?

MP: My favorite event was p-bars!

LASG: How did it feel to come in fourth place?

MP: It felt really good. We got to go up on stage and they announced us and we ALMOST got a banner!

LASG: Was it motivating to know that you were that close to getting a banner?

MP: Yes. We are looking forward to working even harder for next time!

The Los Angeles School of Gymnastics would like to thank Gymnastics Olympica USA for hosting the event and giving our boys a chance to compete, and of course the Southern California Men?s Gymnastics Association for organizing the successful event.

Which LASG team will bring home the next trophy?! Stay tuned to LAGymnastics.com to find out!
