Gina R starred as Tinkerbell, the beloved fairy that has been the delight of young people and the young at heart the world over, ever since this flying winged
pixie was first introduced in England more than 100 years ago as a character in the fairytale, Peter Pan. Disney continued the love affair with its animated version of the story in 1953. In 1959 Disney decided to fly Tinkerbell from high atop the Matter horn.
Gina held the job for more than 21 years, came well qualified for the role, with many years of experience as a circus performer preceding the Tinkerbell engagement. Her discovery by Bob Yerkes, the well known stunt man and circus performer, while she was a participant on a San Fernando Valley high school gymnastics team, eventually led to her leaving home at 18 to join the Shrine Circus where she was soon to be seen hanging on a single trapeze under a motorcycle strung up on a high wire. Gina's Shrine experience was soon followed by a stint with the 1976-77 bicentennial edition of the Ringling Brothers Circus, traveling to major cities as a dancer, showgirl, aerialist, elephant rider, and one of the first girls to star in a hazardous, towering motorcycle act. After that it was off to Reno, flying trapeze with the Flying Ramos troupe, doing aerial ballet, and performing in a comedy-juggling act at the newly opened Circus Circus Hotel
Gina recalls her circus experience, "required that I had to listen to what my body needed, what it needed to do, and how it was going to perform. I had to be in good shape, focused and an all around person." The result was that she developed a natural talent for diet and fitness needs and soon found that athletes were seeking advice from her on health and physical fitness issues. Gina took continuing education courses in sports medicine and holistic healing and becoming certified as a Personal Trainer by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Her past taught her that strength and will power can achieve the impossible, and just as she mastered the drive needed to overcome the terror of performing at great heights, she passes that spirit on to her many clients, among whom she counts an Olympic medalist ice skater.
Returning to Southern California, Gina would not be satisfied with a single career. This pro-active, high-energy, self-starter soon became a Licensed Talent Agency/Owner-Operator and founded, owned, and operated World Wide Acts, an entertainment booking and representation service, handling a diversified repertoire of international and domestic entertainers. She also excelled as an events coordinator, production manager and booked more than 1000 corporate events for a wide range of venues, handling recruitment, auditioning and management duties, as well as serving as production coordinator for these events.
About the Coach
Jessica Lindsay trained and performed ballet, modern, and jazz dance with
the Nashville Ballet for six years until she came across a new kind of
performance that sparked a flame within her. She was very intrigued, and
soon became addicted to this thrilling and beautiful art of aerial dance.
Jessica Lindsay has been fortunate to train under many talented and
respected acrobats such as world-class aerialist's, Eric Newton (Cirque du
Soleil - "Quidam"), Sagiv Ben Binyamin (Universal Studio's - "Spiderman
Rocks", Cirque de la Mer), and international gymnast, Stella Umeh (Cirque du
Soleil - "Mystere", "Varekai").
After much dedication and training, Jessica Lindsay had a vision of creating an avant-garde aerial company that would push the boundaries of entertainment. In 2005, this vision became a reality known as the Aerial Showgirls. They opened their first company performance on Halloween of 2005 in Orange County at the Galaxy Concert Theatre. Since then, Jessica and the Aerial Showgirls have had the pleasure of performing at some of the most popular clubs, venues, and events around the country.
Jessica wanted to share her aerial knowledge with others. So in early 2006, she opened the Aerial Classroom in Orange County, where she currently still teaches classes. She's even had the pleasure of training superstar Carmen Electra on aerial hoop. In April of 2006, and March of 2007, Jessica was invited to choreograph and perform aerials with Electra and the burlesque group of dancers, the Bombshell Babies, in Palm Springs. Jessica's favorite quote is, "Give me somewhere to stand, and I will move the earth." Although, it might need to be revised to, "Give me somewhere to fly..." |
